The Ottoman Empire, the Birth of a Stateestablished in the late 13th century in the northwestern region of Anatolia, in Söğüt and Domaniç, was a powerful state that lasted for 600 years. The foundations of this empire were laid by Osman Bey, who played a crucial role in transforming a small principality into a great power that shaped world history.

Osman Bey was born in 1258 and was the son of Ertuğrul Gazi, the leader of the Kayı tribe. The process of founding the Ottoman Empire began when Ertuğrul Gazi settled in the Söğüt and Domaniç regions. After Ertuğrul Gazi's death, Osman Bey took over the leadership and declared the independence of the Ottoman Principality in 1299. This date is accepted as the year of the founding of the Ottoman Empire.

Osman Bey conducted successful campaigns against the Byzantine Empire to expand the borders of the principality. His first major success was defeating the Byzantine forces at the Battle of Bapheus in 1302. This victory solidified the Ottomans' power in the region and facilitated their rapid expansion in Anatolia. Osman Bey's strategic genius and military successes enabled the swift growth and strengthening of the Ottoman Principality.

After Osman Bey's death, his son Orhan Bey succeeded him. During Orhan Bey's reign, the Ottomans captured Bursa, making it their capital and establishing a strong presence in the Marmara region. Under Orhan Bey's rule, the Ottomans achieved new victories against Byzantium and began to extend their influence into Europe by crossing into Rumelia.
